Turkey’s BIST 100 sees its highest level since July 30

BIST 100 index rises 2.09 points from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 7.3370

Turkey’s benchmark stock index ended Thursday up 0.19% to close at 1,126.80 points, seeing its highest level since July 30.

After starting at 1,125.03 points on Thursday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index went up 2.09 points from 1,124.71 points at Wednesday’s close.

During the day, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,113.93 points and 1,125.03 points 21 stocks on the index rose, 32 fell and two were flat compared to Wednesday.

The total market value of the benchmark index was around 820 billion Turkish liras ($111 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 24.2 billion Turkish liras ($3.3 billion).

One ounce of gold sold for $1,944.00 by market close, down from $1,988.00, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

Shares of private lender Garanti, energy giant Tupras and petrochemical company Petkim saw the highest trading volumes.

Stocks of energy company Ipek Dogal Enerji registered the best performance, up 9.96%, while shares of conglomerate GSD, suffered the most, losing 3.81%.

The price of Brent oil was $44.77 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Thursday.
