Turkiye’s exports to the United Arab Emirates exceeded $2 billion in the first half of this year.
With the normalization of Turkiye’s relations with the Middle East countries, bilateral trade between the countries is increasing rapidly.
A Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement was signed between Turkiye and the UAE. While commercial relations continue to develop within the scope of the goal of increasing the trade volume between the two countries to $40 billion, Turkiye’s exports to the UAE are increasing rapidly.
According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkiye’s exports to the UAE increased by 21.2% in the first half of this year compared to the same period of 2022 and reached $2 billion 29 million. Thus, the UAE was recorded as the 13th country to which Turkiye exports the most.
UAE was also the 5th country where Turkiye increased its exports the most in the first half.
Turkiye’s exports to the UAE increased by $355 million 135 thousand in January-June 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year.
The jewelery sector came to the fore in exports to the UAE
From a sectoral point of view, the jewelery sector performed the most exports to the UAE. The jewelry industry exported $753 million 118 thousand to the country.
The jewelery sector was followed by chemicals and products with $138 million 521 thousand, electricity and electronics with $104 million 899 thousand, cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products with $91 million 37 thousand, and ready-made clothing and apparel with $87 million 817 thousand.
The jewelery sector led the way in the increase in exports on a value basis. The exports of the jewelery industry to the UAE increased by $275 million 241 thousand.
Electricity and electronics increased $10 million 249 thousand, machinery and accessories $10 million, automotive industry $9 million 279 thousand, steel industry $6 million 508 thousand.
In the first half, machinery and accessories were sold to the UAE for $58 million 639 thousand, the automotive industry for $79 million 781 thousand, and the steel industry for $42 million 535 thousand.
$1 billion 240 million export was realized from Istanbul
In the first half of the year, $1 billion 240 million were exported to the UAE from Istanbul.
Exports were made to the country for $212 million 923 thousand from Corum, $82 million 313 thousand from Izmir and $66 million 981 thousand to Gaziantep.
