Turkey will increase the IMEI registration fees of smartphones as of 2021

The International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) registration fee of smartphones brought to Turkey from abroad will be increased with the new year. After the release of October CPI inflation figures by the Turkey Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), revaluation rates applied in 2021 were also calculated, it was determined as 9.11.

In line with these data, it is expected that the registration price of smartphones to be brought from abroad will be increased at the same rate next year. The fee charged for the registration of smartphones to be brought with passengers from abroad in our country will be ₺2006 in 2021.

The decision can be changed by the Presidential decision and will enter into force as of January 1, 2021 after it is published in the Official Gazette. The fee, which was first increased from ₺170 to ₺500 in November 2018, was increased 3 times and became ₺1500 before.

With the revaluation rate made last year, the smartphone fees were set at ₺1838 this year. Those who bring smartphones from abroad will continue to pay ₺1838 until the end of the year. However, with the new year, higher prices will be valid.
