“Joint Statement” in the field of energy from Turkiye and Japan

A “Joint Statement” was signed regarding the launch of the “Turkiye-Japan Energy Forum”, which is planned to be organized to improve cooperation between Turkiye and Japan in the field of energy.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar and Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Nishimura Yasutoshi met in Istanbul to evaluate possible cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy.

After the meeting between the delegations, the “Joint Statement” was signed on the launch of the “Turkiye-Japan Energy Forum”, which is planned to be organized by the ministers to improve cooperation in the field of energy.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister Bayraktar stated that they made comprehensive evaluations with Japan’s Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Nishimura Yasutoshi and said, “The 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Turkiye and Japan in 2024. The year 2024 is very important for us in this respect. Therefore, we think that the ‘Turkiye-Japan Energy Forum will serve to improve the cooperation between the two countries in this sense.”

Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Nishimura Yasutoshi, stated that they took an important and big step towards the realization of the “Turkiye-Japan Energy Forum” and said:

“We are planning to organize the forum in Tokyo on the occasion of our 100th anniversary next year. I hope that our bilateral relations in the field of critical mines will be improved by making the energy forum we agreed upon as a start. I hope that our cooperation in various fields, especially energy, will continue in the coming period.”

It is planned to develop cooperation between Turkiye and Japan under the main headings of “Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Natural Gas and New Fuels/Technologies”.
