Treasury and Finance Minister Simsek said, “Monthly inflation decreased in March in line with our forecast. While the additional tightening in monetary policy will contribute significantly to the balancing of demand, further increase in external financing opportunities will strengthen macro-financial stability.”
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Simsek evaluated the inflation figures announced by TUIK.
Stating that monthly inflation decreased in March in line with his predictions, Simsek said, “While the additional tightening in monetary policy will contribute significantly to the balancing of demand, further increase in external financing opportunities will strengthen macro-financial stability.”
“We will do whatever it takes until we reach our goal.”
Simsek said, “All these developments, together with the fiscal policy that will tighten with spending control, except for earthquakes, will anchor inflation expectations and support the disinflation process. We will do whatever is necessary until we reach our goal of price stability, which is our first priority.”
