New Metro Line Is Coming To Istanbul

A new metro line is being added to Istanbul’s transportation infrastructure. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said that they are counting the days for the opening of the Başakşehir-Kayaşehir Metro Line.

ONE WAY CAN SERVE 70 THOUSAND PASSENGERS PER HOUR

Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that there is a short time left for the opening of the Başakşehir-Kayaşehir Metro Line, and that there are 4 stops in the 6.2-kilometer project starting from Başakşehir Metrokent, including Onurkent, Şehir Hospital, Kayaşehir and Kayaşehir Meydan stations.

Expressing that the metro line has the capacity to serve 70 thousand passengers in one direction per hour with vehicles with a design speed of 80 kilometers, Karaismailoğlu said that their urgent agenda is earthquakes, but they continue to work successfully in all upcoming projects. Karaismailoğlu explained that after taking over the project, they completed a total of 10 thousand 250 meters of tunnel construction, 295 meters of viaducts, 11 thousand 595 meters of rail, and a total of 32 thousand 661 square meters. It has completed indoor, electromechanical and signaling productions at 4 stations.

Emphasizing that they have finally come to an end in the testing and commissioning works, Karaismailoğlu stated that they will be proud of offering a new service to Istanbul residents.

THE 4 DISTRICTS WILL BE REACHED TO ISTANBUL AIRPORT BY METRO

Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the Başakşehir-Kayaşehir Metro Line will be integrated with other public transportation modes, and said, “Our project will be integrated into the Bağcılar-Olimpiyatköy line at the Metrokent station and the Halkalı-Istanbul Airport line at the Kayaşehir station.

With this integration, Güngören, Bağcılar, Bahçelievler and Başakşehir districts will also be able to reach Istanbul Airport by metro.”

Travel time between stops is as follows:

  • Kayaşehir-Mahmutbey: 20 minutes
  • Metrokent-Freedom Square (Bakırköy): 29 minutes
  • Metrokent-Istanbul Airport: 24 minutes
  • Çam and Sakura City Hospital-Bağcılar: 23 minutes.
