Turkiye: The assets of the banking sector reached ₺19.9 trillion

According to the data of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), the asset size of the Turkish banking sector increased by 39.2% in the period of July 2023 compared to the end of 2022 and reached ₺19 trillion 965.6 billion.

The “Unconsolidated Main Indicators of the Turkish Banking Sector” report for the period of July 2023 was published by the BRSA.

According to the report, the asset size of the banking sector in July was ₺19 trillion 965 billion 570 million. While the total assets of the sector increased by ₺5 trillion 618 billion 180 million compared to the end of 2022, the proportional equivalent of this was 39.2%.

Loans, the largest asset item of the sector, increased by 36.2% compared to the end of 2022 and reached ₺10 trillion 322 billion 795 million, and the total securities increased by 42.3% to ₺3 trillion 373 billion 669 million. In this period, the NPL ratio of loans stood at 1.60%.

Deposit, which is the biggest source of funds among banks’ resources, increased by 40.6% compared to the end of 2022 and reached ₺12 trillion 455 billion 894 million.

In the same period, the total equity reached ₺1 trillion 799 billion 4 million with an increase of 28%.

In the period of July 2023, the period net profit of the sector was ₺293 billion 417 million, and the capital adequacy standard ratio was 18.70%.
