$6 billion 353 million export from Istanbul Exporters’ Associations

In the first 7 months of 2023, Istanbul Exporters’ Association (IIB) made exports of $6 billion 353 million with more than 20 thousand companies operating in different cities, which are members of 7 exporters’ unions within its body.

According to the statement made by IIB, exports increased by 2.5% in the January-July period compared to the same period of the previous year. Compared to the same period of the previous year, Istanbul Exporters sold products to 196 country markets in the first seven months of the year and their share in the country’s exports was 5.1%.

In the same period, Istanbul Exporters’ Associations realized the highest export value on the basis of value to Iraq with $426 million. Most of the poultry, animal products, furniture, paper and forest products were sold to Iraq.

After Iraq, IIB exported the most to the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and Russia in terms of value. In the export made by IIB, grains, pulses, oil seeds, furniture, paper, forest products; Hazelnuts and their products, grains, pulses, oil seeds; Furniture, paper and forestry products and cereals, pulses, oilseeds to the UK; In Russia, grains, pulses, oil seeds and their products, furniture, paper and forest products came to the fore.

On the basis of country groups, the region to which IIB exports the most was the European Union countries with $1 billion 313 million. Exports to European Union countries increased by 11.5% in the first 7 months of the year compared to the same period of the previous year.

Exports increased by 27.7% in July compared to last year

Istanbul Exporters’ Associations made $911.5 million worth of exports in July, an increase of 27.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. The Union made the most exports to Norway, Iraq, Greece, the United States and Germany in July.

Istanbul Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association, one of the unions under the IIB, received $2 billion 149 million in the first seven months of the year; Istanbul Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (IHBIR), $2 billion 38 million with an increase of 13.7% compared to the same period of the previous year; Ship, Yacht and Services Exporters’ Association (GYHIB), an increase of 21.5%, $877.8 million; Istanbul Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association (ISHIB), $586 million; Istanbul Hazelnut and Products Exporters’ Association (IFMIB) increased by 7.2% to $361.5 million; Istanbul Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, $286 million with an increase of 8.2%; Istanbul Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association (KUMIB) realized an export of $146 million with an increase of 18%.

“IIB exhibited a good export performance”

Cem Seven, Coordinator President of Istanbul Exporters’ Associations, whose views were included in the statement, said:

“Istanbul Exporters’ Associations made more exports in the first seven months of the year, with an increase of 2.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. When we look at July, we exported over $911 million with an increase of 27.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. IIB exhibited a good export performance. We achieved export increases in our main markets where we export the most. In the first seven months of the year, compared to the same period of the previous year, we increased our exports by 2.1% to the United States of America, 18.9% to Germany, 16.7% to the United Kingdom, and 40.4% to Russia, among the countries we export the most to. We expect to close the first three quarters of the year with an increase in exports.”
