In the January-August period of this year, the number of passengers using airports in tourism regions increased by 20% compared to the same period last year, exceeding 123.7 million.
According to the data of the General Directorate of State Airports Authority of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (DHMI), in the January-August period of this year, there was 585 thousand 720 aircraft traffic on domestic lines and 543 thousand 390 aircraft traffic on international lines at Turkish airports.
With the overpasses, aircraft traffic increased by 17.8% compared to the same period last year and reached a total of 1 million 443 thousand 642.
In the said period, airports in Turkiye served 61 million 138 thousand 201 passengers on domestic lines and 82 million 68 thousand 893 passengers on international lines. Mobility with direct transit passengers reached 143 million 359 thousand 903.
The number of passengers increased by 24% in the 8-month period
In the same period, the number of passengers at airports providing transportation to tourism centers also increased.
In the 8-month period of this year, a total of 337 thousand 457 aircraft traffic took place at Istanbul Airport, 87 thousand 373 on domestic lines and 250 thousand 84 on international lines. There was a total of 50 million 945 thousand 858 passenger traffic, 12 million 514 thousand 473 on domestic lines and 38 million 431 thousand 385 on international lines. During this period, the number of passengers increased by 24%.
Sabiha Gokcen Airport hosted 11 million 596 thousand 564 passengers on domestic lines and 12 million 696 thousand 90 passengers on international lines. The total number of passengers increased by 23% compared to the same period last year, reaching 24 million 292 thousand 654.
The total number of passengers at Antalya Airport, including 4 million 191 thousand 384 on domestic lines and 19 million 886 thousand 532 on international lines, increased by 18% compared to the same period last year and reached 24 million 77 thousand 916.
While the number of passengers at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport increased by 8% to 7 million 107 thousand 464, the number of passengers hosted at Mugla Dalaman Airport increased by 17% and reached 3 million 636 thousand 500. It was observed that the number of passengers using Mugla Milas-Bodrum Airport increased by 5% to 2 million 907 thousand 815.
The number of people who preferred Adana Airport increased by 20% and reached 3 million 93 thousand 125. The number of passengers receiving service from Gaziantep Airport increased by 10% to 1 million 675 thousand 340. It was determined that 2 million 513 thousand 164 passengers traveled in Trabzon, 1 million 548 thousand 341 in Kayseri, 1 million 338 thousand 870 in Diyarbakır, 607 thousand 686 in Sanliurfa GAP, 582 thousand 156 in Gazipasa Alanya.
The number of passengers increased by 20% in the January-August period
Thus, the total number of passengers hosted in tourism centers in the January-August period of this year reached 123 million 744 thousand 733, an increase of 20 compared to the same period last year.
