Turkiye: Exports of cereals and pulses sector exceeded $8 billion

Cereals and pulses sector increased its exports in the first 9 months of the year by 28.8% compared to the same period of the previous year and generated $8 billion 254 million.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Southeastern Anatolian Exporters’ Associations, the Turkish cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products industry earned $8 billion 254 million 136 thousand in return for 8 million 28 thousand 86 tons of products sent to 213 countries and free zones in 9 months.

The exports of the sector in the first 9 months of the year increased by 3.8% in quantity and 28.8% in value compared to the same period of the previous year.

The sector made the most exports to the Middle East countries with $3 billion 219 million 922 thousand. The Middle East was followed by Africa with $1 billion 985 million 259 thousand and the Americas with $865 million 162 thousand.

Iraq ranked first with $1 billion 706 million 201 thousand in the country-based exports of the sector, while the USA was the second with $503 million 679 thousand, and Syria was the third with $403 million 876 thousand.

The target is $13 billion

Ahmet Tiryakioğlu, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Sector Board, stated that their sector is important for Turkish exports.

Stating that their exports exceeded $8 billion and that they were satisfied with this export rate, Tiryakioğlu said:

“The exports of our industry are increasing day by day and Turkish grain products are in high demand in the world because Turkish products are accepted in the world market in terms of both their quality and taste. In this context, our exporters in the sector do their part and increase their effectiveness in the markets. Our exporters are in search of new markets. Therefore, our industry is developing more and more. Our export target was $13 billion. We continue our efforts to realize this goal and to bring Turkish products to all over the world.”
