Turkey ranks 4th in the world in patent applications

TUBITAK President Mandal said that Turkey ranks 4th in the world in patent applications. Mandal stated that they are among the fastest-growing countries in terms of brand and patent.

TUBITAK President Hasan Mandal pointed out that the work on intellectual property has increased in recent years, and said that especially in the last 10 years, there has been a rise in the field of energy.

Mandal said, “We can see the increase in low-carbon energy patents. There is a 72% increase in the development of renewable energy and energy storage technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”

Emphasizing that Turkey ranks 4th in the world in patent applications, Mandal stated that they are one of the fastest-rising countries in terms of trademarks and patents.

Noting that the applications are also concentrated in the field of information processing technologies, Mandal said that Turkey is also in the 4th step in the number of female researchers and this ranking is good.

Mandal said, “All of these constitute an important input to TUBITAK’s own processes. TUBITAK’s mission is to support research that has an impact on both society and national security, rather than creating potential. We focus on supporting human resources in line with the co-development approach and producing knowledge within this scope. For this, we continue to build capacity with individual projects.”
