Treasury to borrow $8.14B from domestic markets in next 3 months, says Treasury and Finance Ministry

The Turkish Treasury will repay debts worth 198.66 billion Turkish liras ($14.77 billion) in the next three months, the Treasury and Finance Ministry announced on Monday.

The Treasury will repay 83.2 billion Turkish liras ($6.18 billion) in external debts, including 25.9 billion Turkish liras ($1.92 billion) in interest payments.

During the February-April period, some 115.5 billion Turkish liras ($8.59 billion) of domestic debt redemption is also projected – with 53.1 billion Turkish liras ($3.94 billion) of this amount in interest payments, while the rest in principal payment.

According to the ministry’s borrowing strategy,the Treasury will borrow 109.5 billion Turkish liras ($8.14 billion) from domestic markets in the next three months.

The Treasury projects to hold 22 bond auctions and direct sale of lease certificates – no planned external borrowing – in the three-month period.
