Toyota will launch its new generation fully electric vehicles in 2026

Toyota plans to put its new generation fully electric vehicles on sale for the first time in 2026.

According to the statement made by the company, Toyota is preparing to start production of new generation electric vehicles from 2026.

Toyota, which develops cars that offer advanced driving experience with its new generation electric vehicles, is also carrying out new battery studies that will exceed the needs and expectations of customers.

The company, which announced its advanced battery road map at a workshop themed “Let’s Change the Future of Automobiles”, is preparing to break new ground with new generation electric vehicles. Demonstrating its new battery technology plans, Toyota will also make a difference with its factory that will specifically produce electric vehicles.

According to Toyota’s planning, the new generation fully electric vehicle will first be available for sale in 2026. In addition, these new generation electric models will represent 1.7 million of the 3.5 million Toyota fully electric vehicles to be sold in 2030.

Fast charging time will be 20 minutes or less

Toyota develops batteries according to the needs and expectations of fully electric vehicles, as well as the different technologies needed in internal combustion engines. In this context, introducing 4 new generation batteries, Toyota will also play a leading role in battery technology with liquid and solid electrolytes.

Performance lithium-ion batteries, which are planned to be used in new generation electric vehicles in 2026, can be produced at 20 percent lower cost than the batteries in the current bZ4X model. However, fast charging time will be 20 minutes or less. These batteries will offer a range of more than 800 kilometers.

Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, which aim to make electric vehicles more accessible, will cost 40 percent less and have 20 percent more range than the batteries in the current bZ4X model. Batteries that can be charged in less than 30 minutes are planned to be produced in 2026-2027.

Toyota is also developing high-performance batteries by combining bipolar architecture with lithium-ion battery chemistry. Thanks to better aerodynamics and lower weight, the vehicles will be able to offer a range of more than 1000 kilometers. High-performance batteries, which will cost 10 percent less than performance batteries, can be charged in less than 20 minutes and will be used in 2027-2028.

Toyota is also working on solid-state batteries, which are thought to have great potential in electric vehicles, and is developing long-lasting and more compact products suitable for fast charging. Solid-state batteries, which are planned to be ready for commercial use in 2027-2028, have a range of more than 1000 kilometers in the first development phase; In its second development phase, it will offer a range of more than 1200 kilometers. However, it can be charged in less than 10 minutes.
