In terms of variety, apple juice and concentrate, grape juice and concentrate, pineapple juice and concentrate were exported the most.

The goal is $350 million

Hayrettin Ucak, chairman of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that there is high demand for fresh fruit and vegetable products due to the epidemic.

Noting that Turkey’s income from fresh fruit and vegetable products in 2020 earned $1 billion 683 million 626 thousand, Ucak stated that they consider this export valuable in terms of value-added production.

Expressing that fruit juice exports are also an example of value-added exports, Ucak said, “Last year, we set a target of $300 million. In the last 10 years, our exports have increased from $222 million to $322 million. We want to set a new record in 2021 and increase our fruit juice exports to $350 million.”

“We exceeded our target”

Ozbay Dogru, Supply Chain Director of Dimes, one of the leading exporting companies in the region, pointed out that they started 2020 very well as a company, and that during the epidemic, people showed high demand for fruit juice due to its vitamin content.

Noting that as a company, they aim to grow by 50% in the export market in 2020, Dogru said, “We exceeded this and increased it to 54%. We export to over 100 countries. We especially focused on the Far East market. We increased our sales, especially in South Korea and Japan. We made serious progress in these markets, especially with our fruit juice products. “

Noting that it is difficult to enter the Far East market, Dogru said that they achieved success in this market with the products developed by the R&D centers they established.

Touching on the increasing demand in the domestic market, Dogru said, “Our growth target continues in 2021. We aim to grow 60% in exports.”

Stating that the average consumption of fruit juice per capita in Turkey is 16 liters, Dogru added saying that in the USA it is approaching 160 liters.
