€7.9 million grant from IBRD to Turkiye for offshore RES

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) will provide a grant of €7.9 million to Turkiye to be used in offshore wind power plant (RES) field development studies.

The international agreement on the subject was published in today’s issue of the Official Gazette.

Accordingly, the agreement aims to help Turkiye develop its investment potential for offshore wind energy production by eliminating risks and strengthening institutional capacities in selected fields.

IBRD, as the administrator of the EU Pre-Accession Assistance Instrument Trust Fund, will provide €7.9 million to Turkiye for use in RES field development studies.

The grant will be used for issues such as environmental and social constraint analysis, technical, legal, economic analysis and capacity development within the scope of offshore RES field development studies. In the agreement, the closing date of the grant was stated as May 31, 2025.

The preliminary protocol of the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) Energy Sector Program Phase IV-Naval Base Wind Energy Support Project was signed on 28 August 2023.
