Turkiye: Overseas Producer Price Index increased in May

Overseas Producer Price Index (YD-PPI) increased by 6.51% on a monthly basis in May.

Turkish Statistical Institute announced the YD-PPI data for May.

Accordingly, in May, YD-PPI increased by 6.51% on a monthly basis, by 23.92% compared to December of the previous year, by 100.54% compared to the same month of the previous year and by 70.12% on 12-month averages.

Looking at the annual changes in the two sectors of the industry, there was an increase of 107.11% in mining and quarrying, and 100.42% in manufacturing.

When the annual changes of the main industrial groups are taken into account, an increase of 112.79% in intermediate goods, 83.68% in durable goods, 83.73% in non-durable goods, 279.37% in energy and 85.52% in capital goods.

The monthly changes in the two sectors of the industry were determined as 6.92% increase in mining and quarrying and 6.5% increase in manufacturing.

The monthly changes in the main industrial groups were 6.79% in intermediate goods, 3.87% in durable goods, 5.6% in non-durable goods, 22.51% in energy and 5.41% in capital goods.

According to the annual YD-PPI, 14 sub-sectors changed lower and 11 sub-sectors showed higher changes.

Among the YD-PPI sectors, the sub-sectors where the indices increased the least were 64.76%, tobacco products 69.9%, machinery and equipment 77.41%. On the other hand, coke and refined petroleum products with 279.37%, basic metals with 135.10% and metal ores with 114.93% were recorded as the sub-sectors with the highest increase in indices.

According to the monthly YD-PPI, it was calculated that 18 sub-sectors showed lower changes and 7 sub-sectors showed higher changes.

Looking at the changes on a monthly basis, basic pharmaceutical products and preparations from the YD-PPI sectors were the sub-sectors where the indexes increased the least with 3.25%, computers, electronic and optical products by 3.43%, and other manufactured goods with 4.06%. On the other hand, coke and refined petroleum products with 22.51%, beverages with 10.55% and basic metals with 7.88% were calculated as the sub-sectors with the highest increase in indices.
