Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul closes Tuesday with gains

BIST 100 gains around 12 points from previous close

Turkey’s benchmark stock index ended Tuesday at 2,015.43 points, up 0.61% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 2,013.97 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index gained 12.23 points from Monday’s close of 2,003.20 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 2,008.69 points, while its daily high was 2,034.85.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was more than 1.6 trillion Turkish liras ($120 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of over 24.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.8 billion).

During the second transaction day of the week, 66 stocks on the index rose, 28 fell, and six remained unchanged compared to Monday’s close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and iron and steel producer Kardemir.

Real estate investment firm Ziraat Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi A.S. was the best performer with its shares up 9.63%, while stocks of cement manufacturer Oyak Cimento saw the sharpest drop – 4.09%.

Price of one ounce of gold was at $1,801 with a 0.2% gain at 6.25 p.m. local time (1525 GMT).

Price of Brent crude oil was around $89.18 per barrel with a 0.1% loss at the same time.
