Sakarya maintains it’s position as number 7 in exports and comes after İstanbul, Ankara, Bursa, İzmir, Kocaeli and Gaziantep. Sakarya exported to 143 countries and 8 free zones in 5 months. The exports is worth 1 billion 523 million 226 thousand dollars.
Sakarya is known for automotive, iron and other metals, air conditioning industry, chemical materials and goods, machinery and it’s components industry. The automotive factories were discontinued for a given time due to Covid-19 measures and as a result, there was a decrease in the exports rate compared to last year; yet, automotive industry had the most export with a worth 1 billion 369 million 943 thousand dollars.
According to the Automotive Industry Association (OSD); among 425 thousand 804 vehicles, including tractors, that are produced between January and May in Turkey, 336 thousand 98 of them were exported. Sakarya has 20,3 percent share in these exports.

The firms that are leading in production and exports respectively are Toyota, Türk Traktör and Otokar.

Otokar which is Turkey’s leading company of defence industry, also decided to discontinue production due to measures regarding the epidemic on March 25 and started production on May. Otokar exported 476 thousand 232 vehicles that are produced in the first 5 months.
TürkTraktör produced 9 thousand 456 tractors in the first 5 months and exported 4 thousand 418 of them.
