Turkey exported $ 45 million of fish oil and flour in the 10-month period

Turkish fish oil and flour exports in the 10-month period increased by 57 percent compared to the same period last year and reached $45 million 360 thousand 603.

According to the data of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union (DKIB), Turkey exported 26 thousand 109 tons of fish oil and flour to 32 countries and obtained $45 million 360 thousand 603 from these exports in the January-October period. Turkey exported only $28 million 866 thousand 620 of 18 thousand 200 tons of fish oil and flour in the same period last year. Accordingly, fish oil and flour exports increased by 43 percent in quantity, by 57 percent in value.

Fish oil and flour exports to Peru increased by 807 percent

Fish oil and flour were exported the most to Peru, France, and Norway in the January-October period of 2020. 5707 tons of fish oil and flour worth $11 million 112 thousand 65 were exported to Peru in the 10-month period. $1 million 224 thousand 923 of income was obtained from the export of 614 tons of fish oil and flour to Peru in the same period last year; thus, exports of fish oil and flour to Peru increased by 829 percent in quantity and 807 percent in value. France followed Peru with a share of $8 million 39 thousand 154 and Norway with a share of $7 million 42 thousand 649.

In this period, Turkey also exported to countries such as Taiwan, Indonesia, Germany, Russia, Serbia, Oman, the Netherlands and Kyrgyzstan.

‘’We believe that fish oil and flour exports will provide much more added value.’’

Ismail Kobya, Member of the Board of Directors of the DKIB and Chairman of the Fisheries Sector Committee stated that Turkey’s aquatic products have a significant potential in exports.

Emphasizing that the exports of fish oil and flour, which are among the aquaculture products, show an improvement every year, Kobya noted that these exports increased by 57 percent compared to the same period of 2019. Kobya also underlined that the diversity of the exported-countries has increased in addition to the export potential and stated that they believe that fish oil and flour exports will provide much more added value to the country in the future.
