Turkey exported $193 million to Libya last month

Turkey’s exports to Libya increased by 89.2% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $192.6 million.

According to the statement made by DEIK Turkey-Libya Business Council, furniture, paper and forestry products were exported the most with $$30.8 million last month, followed by cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products with $29.1 million.

In January, defense and aerospace industry exports to Libya increased by 4,200% compared to the same period of the previous year. The rate of increase was 3781% in tobacco and 3046% in olive and olive oil.

DEIK Turkey-Libya Business Council President Murtaza Karanfil, who gave his views on the subject in the statement, stated that Libya considers Turkey as the main supplier in dozens of products, and that the most exported product can change every month.

Noting that there were requests from Libyan authorities to establish a Turkish market and fair in this country and to increase direct flights, Karanfil said that if a Turkish bazaar was established in Benghazi, a fair was organized and flights increased, a triple-digit growth rate could be seen in exports this year.

Karanfil said, “We should focus on Benghazi, which is located in the east of Libya, and markets where Turks have not been involved with their products and services before. This is important for both Libya and Turkey.”

Explaining that they are the third country that exports the most to the east of Libya, and that the authorities here want to see Turkey in the first place, Karanfil said that Turkish investments should be increased and the focus should be on completing unfinished projects.
