Trabzon’s 2-Month Export Surpasses $211.8 Million Mark

Exports from Trabzon in the January-February period reached ₺211 million 846 thousand.

Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKIB) Chairman Saffet Kalyoncu told the AA correspondent that exports were made from the city to 98 countries in 2 months of the year.

Kalyoncu stated that $211 million 846 thousand were earned from the export in question. “The top 3 countries with the most exports from Trabzon were Italy, Russian Federation and Germany, respectively, while the countries with over a hundred percent export increase were Peru, People’s Republic of China, Vietnam, Japan, Australia and Malaysia.”

Kalyoncu stated that exports were at the same level as the two months of last year, and that the sectors with the most exports were hazelnuts, aquatic products, fresh fruits and vegetables, vehicle spare parts and defense industry, respectively.

Referring to the problems experienced by exporters, Kalyoncu asked that exporters’ access to finance should be increased and supported with appropriate credit opportunities in order to survive in the coming period.

Kalyoncu noted that they will try to reach the targeted export figures for the rest of the year, and added that the only way to protect themselves from the negative effects of the contraction in demand caused by the monetary tightening in the domestic markets is exports, and for this, they demand positive discrimination in support of exporters.
