Turkiye: First quarter record in exports to Poland

Turkiye exported $1 billion 433 million to Poland in January-March 2023. Poland was recorded as the 11th country in which Turkiye’s exports increased the most.

Turkiye realized the highest first quarter export of all time to Poland with $1 billion 433 million.

Turkiye continues to break export records in Europe, where it is strong in trade. Turkish exporters, who shape their strategies to increase market diversity, do not only break export records in leading markets.

Located in the European Union (EU), Poland is among the markets where Turkiye intensifies its exports.

According to the information compiled by AA correspondent from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) data, Turkiye realized the highest first quarter export of all time to Poland with $1 billion 433 million.

Turkiye’s exports to Poland increased by 6.6% in January-March 2023 compared to the same period last year. Having a share of 2.3% in Turkiye’s total exports, Poland was also recorded as the 11th country in which Turkiye’s exports increased the most.

Exports to Poland increased by $88 million 575 thousand in the first quarter compared to the same period of the previous year. During this period, Poland became the 16th country in which Turkiye’s exports increased the most in terms of value.

Automotive industry made the most exports to Poland

Industrial products came to the fore in exports to Poland.

In the first quarter, the highest demand from Poland came from the automotive industry. The automotive industry exported $406 million 840 thousand to the country during this period.

Automotive was followed by chemicals and products with $146 million 109 thousand, ferrous and non-ferrous metals with $128 million 2 thousand, electricity and electronics with $123 million 10 thousand, ready-made clothing and apparel with $105 million 864 thousand.

The sectors with the least exports to the country are ship yachts and services with $13 thousand, olive and olive oil with $61 thousand, other industrial products with $406 thousand, ornamental plants and products with $1 million 65 thousand, aquaculture and animal products with $3 million 447 thousand.

Automotive industry also maintained its leadership in export growth

In the first quarter of the year, the sector that increased its exports to Poland the most in terms of value was determined as the automotive industry. The exports of the automotive industry increased by $63 million 194 thousand in January-March 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year.

The automotive industry was followed by fresh fruit and vegetables with $34 million 672 thousand, electricity and electronics with $20 million 855 thousand, hazelnuts and products with $7 million 923 thousand, and chemical materials and products with $6 million 39 thousand.

Fresh fruit and vegetable sector exported to the country $75 million 500 thousand, hazelnuts and their products $31 million 367 thousand.

In the first quarter, $587 million 481 thousand were exported from Istanbul to Poland, $156 million 784 thousand from Sakarya, $119 million 134 thousand from Kocaeli, $105 million 158 thousand from Bursa and $98 million 752 thousand from Izmir.
