Turkish Automotive Exports Driven by EU with 67% Share

66.9% of the Turkish automotive industry’s exports in the first 3 months of the year, with $6 billion 108 million 213 thousand, were made to European Union countries.

According to the information compiled from Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters Association and Turkish Exporters Assembly data, the automotive industry, which exports to more than 190 countries, autonomous and free zones in the January-March period, achieved exports of $9 billion 132 million 431 thousand, an increase of 6.1% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The automotive industry realized 14.3% of the country’s exports during this period.

When looked at on a country basis, EU countries ranked first with a 66.9% share in Turkiye’s automotive exports in the January-March period.

Exports of $6 billion 108 million 213 thousand were made to these countries in 3 months, an increase of 1% compared to the same period of the previous year. Thus, EU countries maintained their position as the most important market in automotive exports.

Exports to the “other European countries” group, which the United Kingdom was included in after leaving the EU, increased by 27% to $1 billion 228 million 919 thousand.

Exports of $1 billion 264 million to main market Germany

Germany, the main market of the automotive industry, was recorded as the country with the most exports in the first quarter of this year.

Automotive exports from Turkiye to Germany, which were $1 billion 271 million 286 thousand in the first 3 months of last year, were calculated as $1 billion 264 million 560 thousand in the same period this year.

The United Kingdom ranked second with $1 billion 21 million 510 thousand.

Again, $968 million 873 thousand of exports were made to EU member France, one of the important markets of the automotive industry, in the first 3 months of this year.

In the January-March period of this year, automotive exports of $950 million 367 thousand were made to Italy, $501 million 645 thousand to Spain, and $398 million 589 thousand to Slovenia, exports of $396 million 61 thousand were made to Poland, $385 million 730 thousand to Belgium and $246 million 924 thousand to Romania.
