Turkey: 2.7 million new employments in 1 year

The Turkish economy, which is expected to close last year with a double-digit growth, is also running a record in job creation. While unemployment remained unchanged at 11.2% in November compared to October, it decreased by 1.8 points compared to the same month of the previous year. Unemployment fell to the lowest level of the last 4 years as of November. The number of employed persons increased by 228 thousand persons in a month and by 2.7 million persons in a year and reached 29 million 855 thousand persons. In the last 1 year, the number of people employed in the service sector increased by 1 million 405 thousand and reached 16 million 484 thousand.

UNEMPLOYMENT RATE AMONG YOUNG POPULATION DECREASED

In the last 1 year, employment in industry increased by 817 thousand, in agriculture by 299 thousand and in construction by 180 thousand people. 17.1% of those employed were in agriculture, 21.6% in industry, 6.1% in construction and 55.2% in the service sector.

While the number of unemployed increased by 39 thousand people compared to October, it decreased by 284 thousand people in the last 1 year and became 3 million 777 thousand people. Unemployment among the young population decreased by 2.6 points in 1 year to 22.3%.
