Turkish honey exports earned $13.5 million in 4 months

Honey exports from Turkiye in the January-April period reached $13 million 468 thousand.

Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union Deputy Chairman of the Board Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan said that honey was sold to 40 countries, autonomous and free zones from Turkiye in 4 months.

Gurdogan stated that $13 million 468 thousand 114 were obtained from the export of 4 thousand 142 tons of honey in the aforementioned period, and said, “The USA, Germany and Israel were the 3 countries with the highest export sales in this period. Honey was exported to the USA for $5 million 256 thousand 178, to Germany for $2 million 110 thousand 292 and to Israel $1 million 803 thousand 82.”

Drawing attention to the diversity of countries in honey exports, Gurdogan stated that honey was sold to Saudi Arabia, Ireland, Croatia, Romania, Venezuela, People’s Republic of China and Cameroon, different from the same period of last year.

Pointing out that there have been cancellations in honey exports due to errors caused by some companies in the past months, Gurdogan said, “Especially in European countries, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry should carry out a very strict inspection to ensure traceability and export of unbranded and large packaged products should not be allowed in order to avoid order cancellations in the coming period.”
