Turkey: $1.3 billion export from Aegean Exporters’ Associations in January

Turkey’s exports in January reached $17.6 billion with an increase of 17%, breaking a record. Aegean Exporters’ Associations contributed to this record by increasing its exports by 29%, with a contribution of $1 billion 372 million.

In the export of $1 billion 372 million realized by Aegean Exporters’ Associations in January, industrial products were represented with a share of $811 million with an increase of 32%, and agricultural products with a share of $473 million with an increase of 27%. Aegean mine exporters, on the other hand, brought $87 million of foreign currency to the country with an increase of 16%. Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association reached the highest export increase in January with a record of 245%, and realized an export of $26 million. Aegean Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters’ Association increased its exports by 83% in January to $209 million. Aegean Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Exporters’ Association, on the other hand, was registered as the second union with the highest export volume, with an increase of 8%, with $129 million. Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, which exports the most among the Agriculture and Food Unions, left January behind with $109 million, an increase of 28%. Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association realized an export of $92 million with an increase of 22% in January, and the Aegean Mineral Exporters’ Association realized an export of $87 million with an increase of 16%.

Aegean Exporters’ Unions Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi said that 11 unions increased their exports in January, while one union lagged behind the previous period’s performance. Eskinazi said, “Turkey’s exports increased by 17% in January and reached $17.6 billion. As Aegean Exporters’ Associations, we also increased our exports by 29%. Our export increase is above the country average.” Saying that the export figure of the Aegean Region provinces reached $2 billion 82 million in January, Eskinazi said, “Izmir, which is among the provinces with the highest export in Turkey, realized $1 billion 104 million of exports in January.”
