Turkiye’s energy import bill decreased in August

The amount Turkiye paid for energy imports decreased by 39% in August compared to the same month last year, reaching $5 billion 331 million 559 thousand.

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics prepared by the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Commerce, Turkiye’s total imports in August decreased by 6.9% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached $30 billion 271 million 357 thousand.

$5 billion 331 million 559 thousand of this amount consisted of “mineral fuels, mineral oils and products obtained from their distillation, bituminous substances, mineral waxes”, which are summarized as energy imports.

In August last year, this figure was recorded as $8 billion 734 million 485 thousand. Thus, the amount of energy imports decreased by 39% on an annual basis.
