Deposits of the Turkish banking sector increased to ₺9 trillion 638.2 billion

The sector’s deposits amounted to ₺9 trillion 638.2 billion, and the loan volume was ₺7 trillion 617.2 billion.

The total deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺51.8 billion in the week ending February 17 to ₺9 trillion 638.2 billion.

Weekly money and bank statistics were published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT).

Accordingly, total deposits in the banking sector (including between banks) increased by ₺51 billion 792 million 886 thousand in the week ending February 17 and rose to ₺9 trillion 638 billion 204 million 425 thousand.

In the same period, TL deposits in banks increased by 2.3% to ₺5 trillion 240 billion 699 million 191 thousand, while foreign currency (FX) deposits decreased by 1.4% to ₺4 trillion 21 billion 547 million 461 thousand.

While the total FX deposits in banks were $224 billion 65 million last week, $190.5 billion of this amount was collected in the accounts of residents.

Looking at the change in total FX deposits of domestic residents, a decrease of $2 billion 16 million was observed as of February 17, in parity-adjusted data.

The amount of commercial loans in installments decreased

Consumer loans in deposit banks increased by 0.09% last week to ₺1 trillion 82 billion 521 million 216 thousand. In the same period, commercial loans with installments decreased by 0.2% to ₺881 billion 227 million 169 thousand, and the balance of credit cards decreased by 0.6% to ₺708 billion 236 million 423 thousand.

Of the consumer loans in deposit banks, ₺334 billion 741 million 956 thousand consisted of housing, ₺43 billion 340 million 655 thousand vehicle and ₺704 billion 438 million 605 thousand other loans.

The total loan volume of the banking sector, including the CBRT, increased by ₺27 billion 741 million 882 thousand in the week ending February 17 and reached ₺7 trillion 617 billion 241 million 971 thousand. Total loan volume increased by 55.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.
