The total amount of payments made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in August increased by 131% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached ₺798.9 billion.
Interbank Card Center (BKM) announced its data for August.
Accordingly, as of August, the number of credit cards in Turkiye was 111.4 million, the number of debit cards was 182.6 million and the number of prepaid cards was 82.8 million.
Compared to August 2022, there was an increase of 19% in the number of credit cards, 13% in the number of debit cards and 25% in the number of prepaid cards.
The total number of cards reached 376.8 million, increasing by 17% compared to the same period last year.

While ₺650.2 billion of card payments were made with credit cards, ₺135.1 billion were made with debit cards and ₺13.6 billion were made with prepaid cards.

The growth rate in payments made by credit card compared to the same period of the previous year was 138%, in payments made by debit card it was 101%, and in payments made by prepaid cards, this rate was 122%.
The total number of payments made with credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards in August increased by 30% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 1.4 billion.
While 804 million of the card payments were made with credit cards, 541.5 million were used with debit cards and 86.5 million with prepaid cards.
The growth rate in the number of payments made with credit cards was 31% compared to the same period last year, 29% in the number of payments made with debit cards, while this rate was 26% in the number of payments made with prepaid cards.
The number of contactless payments made with cards increased by 44% compared to the same period last year, reaching 883 million. In August, 3 out of every 4 card payments made in-store were made contactless.
