TUIK announced house sales statistics for July

107 thousand 785 houses were sold in Turkey in July. The number of houses sold in July decreased by 19.9% compared to June, and decreased by 53% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Housing sales across Turkey decreased by 53.0% in July compared to the same month of the previous year and became 107 thousand 785. Istanbul had the highest share in house sales with 18,884 house sales and 17.5%.

According to the number of sales, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 10 thousand 605 house sales and 9.8% share, and Izmir with 5 thousand 782 sales and 5.4% share. The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Ardahan with 20 houses, Hakkari with 28 houses and Bayburt with 66 houses, respectively.

MORTGAGED HOUSING SALES WERE REALIZED AS 20 THOUSAND 553 IN JULY

In Turkey, mortgaged house sales in July decreased by 84.3% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 20 thousand 553. The share of mortgaged sales in total house sales was 19.1%. Istanbul ranked first in mortgage sales with 4 thousand 365 residences and a share of 21.2%. The province with the lowest mortgaged house sales was Hakkari with 1 house.

87 THOUSAND 232 HOUSES HAVE CHANGED AS A RESULT OF OTHER SALES TYPES

Other house sales decreased by 11.6% in Turkey in July compared to the same month of the previous year and became 87 thousand 232. In other housing sales, Istanbul ranked first with 14 thousand 519 sales and a 16.6% share. The share of other sales in total house sales in Istanbul was 76.9%. Ankara ranked second with 8,022 other house sales, followed by Izmir with 4,492 house sales. The province with the lowest sales of other houses was Ardahan with 18 houses.

32 THOUSAND 672 HOUSES WERE SOLD FOR THE FIRST TIME IN JULY

The number of houses sold for the first time in Turkey decreased by 51.9% in July compared to the same month of the previous year and became 32 thousand 672. The share of the first sale in total house sales was 30.3%. In the first sales, Istanbul had the highest share with 4 thousand 854 house sales and 14.9%, followed by Ankara with 2 thousand 230 house sales and Izmir with 1,517 house sales.

75 THOUSAND 113 HOUSES HAVE CHANGED HANDS IN SECOND HAND HOUSING SALES

Second hand house sales in Turkey decreased by 53.5% in July compared to the same month of the previous year and became 75 thousand 113. Istanbul took the first place in second-hand house sales with 14 thousand 30 houses and a share of 18.7%. The share of second-hand sales in total house sales in Istanbul was 74.3%. Ankara ranked second in second-hand house sales with 8,375 house sales, followed by Izmir with 4,265 house sales.

HOUSING SALES DECREASED 22.7% IN JANUARY-JULY PERIOD

In the January-July period, house sales decreased by 22.7% compared to the same period of the previous year and were realized as 660 thousand 595, while mortgaged house sales decreased by 68.6% to 124 thousand 721, other sales types increased by 17.3% to 535 thousand 874. In this period, first-time houses sold decreased by 24.5% to 200 thousand 550, second-hand house sales decreased by 21.8% to 460 thousand 45.

4,495 HOUSING SALES TO FOREIGNERS IN JULY

Housing sales to foreigners increased by 64.0% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 4 thousand 495. In the housing sales to foreigners, Istanbul took the first place in July with the sales of 1,951 houses. Istanbul was followed by Antalya with 931 house sales, Ankara with 312 house sales, Mersin with 217 house sales and Bursa with 158 house sales.

In the January-July period, house sales to foreigners increased by 46.9% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 24 thousand 983.

BY COUNTRY NATIONALITY, MOST HOUSING SALES ARE MADE TO IRAQ CITIZENS

In July, Iraqi citizens bought 712 houses from Turkey. Iraqi citizens were followed by Iran with 619 residences, Russian Federation with 365 residences, Afghanistan with 229 residences and Germany with 198 residences.
