Trendyol and BMD join forces for the retail industry

e-Commerce platform Trendyol signed a cooperation with the United Brands Association (BMD) to support the Turkish retail industry. Trendyol Group President Caglayan Cetin said, “As Turkey’s Trendyol, we are happy to cooperate with the United Brands Association. Thanks to this cooperation, we aim to further strengthen the retail industry. Thus, while supporting the growth of the sector, we will also make a positive contribution to our country’s economy.” United Brands Association President Sinan Oncel said, “The growth of e-commerce has gained a significant momentum in the retail sector in the last two years, strengthening the cooperation between our brands and Trendyol will be a great benefit to our economy.”

According to the statement made by Trendyol, with the cooperation, which is an important step for both the e-commerce and retail sectors, Trendyol will offer BMD members important opportunities from effective marketing activities to arrangements to shorten the maturity period. In addition, Trendyol, together with BMD members, will arrange the payment terms of all sellers for 14 days throughout November.

“ASIDE FROM COOPERATION WITH BRANDS, WE SUPPORT DOMESTIC PRODUCTION AND MANUFACTURERS”

Emphasizing that it is among the priorities of the artisans and SMEs in Turkey to further digitize and grow their business with technology and e-commerce, Cetin said, “The growth of e-commerce means the growth of tradesmen, SMEs, women entrepreneurs and commerce in Turkey. As the leading company of e-commerce in our country, we are working to develop technologies that will create value, to make logistics and technological infrastructure investments that will make our customers’ lives easier, to digitize our tradesmen and SMEs, to increase the e-export of Turkish products and foreign currency inflow to our country. With the SME Support Package, which we started as of April 2020, we have provided ₺750 million worth of marketing, financing and training support to our tradesmen and SMEs. We also support domestic production and manufacturers. Especially the provinces of Anatolia benefit from Trendyol more and more every day. By bringing together SMEs and tradesmen outside the three big cities with millions of customers in Turkey, we support them to grow their businesses and contribute to regional development. Within the scope of this cooperation, which started under the leadership of BMD, one of our important business partners, we arranged the payment terms of all our vendors as 14 days throughout November. “WE STARTED TO MEET TURKISH PRODUCTS WITH CUSTOMERS ABROAD”

Cetin concluded his words by saying, “Trendyol is a big ecosystem. Hundreds of thousands of people work for the operations of our vendors on our platform. We provide job opportunities to hundreds of thousands of people in different sectors such as cargo distribution, packaging and customer service. Thus, we contribute to our economy, directly and indirectly, with a total employment of 1.1 million people. We aim to increase this figure to 2.4 million people in 2023. E-export, which is one of the important targets in front of Turkey, is also our main priority. With the infrastructures we have started to establish, our contribution to the increase of our country’s foreign exchange income will increase day by day. For our customers in Europe, we opened Trendyol in 27 countries, including the European Union and the United Kingdom. We deliver the products produced in Turkey to the whole world.”

“E-COMMERCE SHOWED GROWTH EVERY MONTH IN THE PANDEMIC”

United Brands Association President Sinan Oncel said, “It is clear that e-commerce offers significant expansion and growth opportunities for all brands at home and abroad. During the pandemic period, e-commerce has grown every month, it has become the most important channel that keeps the sector alive, especially during the curfew and when we are closed. We have reached an agreement with our member Trendyol, the e-commerce platform with the largest market share in Turkey, to bring our brands closer together and to develop cooperation. An important initiative such as a 14-day payment term, which is currently the top priority, will be a very important financing opportunity for our brands and all retailers in the sector. The mutual growth moves of our brands and Trendyol in November will undoubtedly reflect even more positively in the coming months.”

FINANCE AND MARKETING SUPPORT

According to the information given, Trendyol will provide cash flow support by making early payments to retailers within the scope of cooperation. With its strong marketing support, the platform aims to increase sales volumes by enabling sellers to deliver their products to more customers. Trendyol will also offer retailers development opportunities in many different areas such as e-commerce operations, ways to increase sales and increase customer satisfaction, with the trainings at Trendyol Academy, together with BMD.

Retailers will be able to access more than 35 trainings and content at Trendyol Academy, as well as attend live broadcasts and conferences free of charge. The activities to be carried out within the scope of the cooperation are aimed at accelerating the development of the retail sector.
