Trabzon leads with 25% of exports in East Black Sea zone

According to the statement of East Black Sea Exporters Union (DKIB), 2 billion 518 million 468 thousand 350 dollars of export was made from East Black Sea in between January and July; 633 million 245 thousand 133 dollars of this export was made from Trabzon.

Trabzon covers the 25 percent of the East Black Sea export, Trabzon is the export leader of 18 cities exporting at the zone. There has been 7 percent of increase in Trabzon export comparing the first 7 months of 2019 and 2020.

Samsun is the second city that exports the most with an export value of 368 million 579 thousand dollars and Zonguldak is the third with a value of 279 million 626 thousand 133 dollars.

Saffet Kalyoncu, the board chairman of DKIB, said that Trabzon became the export leader and has been for many years, he emphasized that Trabzon holds the quarter of the total East Black Sea export and said:

‘’TR90 East Black Sea export includes Trabzon, Ordu, Giresun, Gumushane, Rize and Artvin cities and Trabzon covered 61 percent of that export in the first 7 months of 2020.

Trabzon has a powerful organizational structure and essential export culture; 234 firms export from Trabzon actively and this number increases every month.

The number of countries Trabzon exports to also increases every year and this number is the highest of all cities exporting at East Black Sea; Trabzon exported to 115 countries in the first 7 months of 2020. ‘’

Kalyoncu stated that as a result of the constant export studies, existing experience and expertise, the export in Trabzon will increase 6 times more and be valued more than 1 billion dollars in 20 years.

Kalyoncu emphasized that Trabzon and Black Sea zone are used as a supply spot by the nearby countries especially during the pandemic and he said:

‘’ Nearby countries started to procure a lot of productions from Black Sea zone, they previously procure from China, Iran and Europe; this brought the Black Sea export into forefront. We will continue our studies in order to maintain this situation.’’
