Toyota is again the “best-selling automaker” with 10.5 million vehicles in 2021

Japanese automotive giant Toyota retained its title as “the world’s best-selling automaker”, selling approximately 10.5 million vehicles globally in 2021.

According to the statement made by Toyota Motor, Toyota, including its mini-vehicle manufacturer Daihatsu and pickup truck manufacturer Hino, sold approximately 10.5 million vehicles globally in the 12-month period last year.

With this ratio, the Japanese manufacturer recorded an increase of 10.1% compared to its 2020 global sales.

It was stated that Toyota was less affected by the factory closures and semiconductor chip supply shortages due to the Covid-19 outbreak than its local and foreign competitors.

The Japanese company surpassed the 2021 sales of its closest rival, German manufacturer Volkswagen, in global automobile sales.

The German company announced that its 2021 global vehicle sales were 8.9 million, down 4.5% compared to the previous year.

Thus, Toyota preserved the first place it achieved with its 2020 global sales in 2021 as well.
