Kaya Yildiz, gave information in his written statement about in-field development and consolidation works carried out throughout Turkey.

He stated that there are 14.3 million hectares of land suitable for making consolidation and consolidation work continues on 8.25 million hectares of land.

Yildiz said that registration studies were completed on 496 thousand hectares in 2018, 619 thousand hectares in 2019, and 425 thousand hectares by the end of October this year. He added, “By the end of the year, the registration studies of 541 thousand hectares will be completed. Thus, the registration of land consolidation works in 4.77 million hectares of land will be completed by the end of 2020 in our country.”

Yildiz emphasized that when irrigation projects are carried out in accordance with land consolidation, savings in investment costs are achieved because irrigation, road, and evacuation planning is made in the most economical way independently from the parcel borders. On the other hand, he drew attention to the decrease in expropriation costs by 90% with land consolidation projects.

Yildiz stated that with the land consolidation the parcels have grown and the application of agricultural techniques and irrigation methods has become easier.

“In this way, the number of parcels decreases, and their size increases. Regular and ideal parcel shapes are created. Each parcel has a road and a water channel. The distances between the business center and the parcels are reduced, the losses due to transportation are reduced, and fuel savings are provided. Agricultural control and fertilization become easier. Irrigation rate and efficiency increase. Due to the added value provided, the land value increases at least twice. “
