Largest monthly decreases seen in Slovenia, Germany, Latvia, official data shows
The EU’s retail trade diminished 1.3% month-on-month in April, according to the bloc’s statistical office on Friday.
“The volume of retail trade decreased by 2.3% for food, drinks and tobacco and by 0.9% for non-food products, while it increased by 1.4% for automotive fuels,” Eurostat said.
The largest monthly decreases in the total retail trade volume were seen in Slovenia (7.7%), Germany (5.4%) and Latvia (3.9%), while highest increases were seen in Spain (5.3%),Luxembourg (3.7%) and Ireland (1.9%).
Meanwhile, on annual basis, the calendar-adjusted retail sales index increased by 5%.
