Turkiye’s automotive sub-industry exports broke a record with $14 billion

Turkiye’s locomotive sector, the automotive industry, exhibited its best performance on an annual basis, reaching $14 billion 153 million 842 thousand with an increase of 9% in sub-industry exports last year.

According to the AA correspondent’s compilation of Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters Association data, the automotive industry, which closed 2022 with exports of $30 billion 995 million 808 thousand, broke an all-time record with exports of $35 billion 4 million 230 thousand, an increase of 13% last year.

Last year, exports were made to 210 countries, free zones and autonomous regions in the “sub-industry”, which is the most important sub-product group of the automotive industry.

Automotive sub-industry exports, which were $12 billion 977 million 580 thousand in 2022, increased by 9% to $14 billion 153 million 842 thousand in 2023. Thus, the best annual performance recorded in the sub-industry in 2022 was left behind.

Sub-industry products constituted 40.43% of the automotive industry’s total exports in 2023.

Sub-industry exports to Russia increased by 44%

Germany, the main market of the automotive industry, ranked first among the countries with the highest exports in the sub-industry.

Exports to Germany in 2023 increased by 8% compared to 2022, increasing from $2 billion 962 million 513 thousand to $3 billion 204 million 811 thousand.

There was a 44% increase in exports to Russia, the second most exported country. Last year, $975 million 515 thousand of products were sent to Russia, where $676 million 20 thousand of sub-industry products were sold in 2022.

Sub-industry exports to the USA, which ranks third, decreased by 3.4% from $892 million 870 thousand to $862 million 56 thousand.

During this period, sub-industry exports to France, which ranked fourth, increased by 15.34% to $851 million 278 thousand, and exports to Italy, which ranked fifth, increased by 7.2% to $848 million 232 thousand.

In sub-industry exports, the United Kingdom ranked sixth with $746 million 99 thousand, Spain ranked seventh with $674 million 945 thousand, Poland ranked eighth with $577 million 957 thousand, Romania ranked ninth with $491 million 765 thousand, and Belgium ranked tenth with $350 million 189 thousand.
