Regulation regarding the support provided to forest villagers has been amended

The Regulation on Amending the Regulation on Supporting the Development of Forest Villagers, prepared by the General Directorate of Forestry affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, was published in the Official Gazette today and entered into force.

According to the amendment, the term “family” used for those benefiting from individual loans has been changed to “household.” In the regulation, a household is defined as “a group consisting of one or more persons residing in the same household.”

For social credit-based services and activities specified in Article 8 of the regulation, a rural contribution of at least 3 percent of the project amount and a self-financing contribution of at least 10 percent of the project amount will be applied in projects implemented by cooperatives or cooperative umbrella organizations for social purposes.

Those who move to forest villages from settlements declared as areas affected by general disasters will be eligible for the definition of forest villagers with a residence period of 3 months instead of one year if they apply within one year from the date of disaster declaration. With the regulation, the way is opened for these individuals to benefit from the supports as well.

The transfers of installments paid by forest villagers benefiting from the supports from their Ziraat Bank accounts to the special budget account of the relevant regional forestry directorate will be made on the same day.
