The paper and paper products sector exported $1.28B in Jan-Sept period

According to the statement of Istanbul Exporters’ Association (IIB), the paper and paper products sector experienced a recovery in June, July, August and September and approached the export figure of $1.32 billion that the sector made in the same period of last year.

England, Germany, USA, China, Bulgaria, Egypt, Morocco, Israel, Iraq and Iran were the top export destinations.

On the other hand, China was the the fifth most exported country by the Turkish paper and paper products industry in the first 9 months of the year; exports to China grew 216.52 percent and 106 percent to USA compared to the previous year. In terms of kilograms, 102 percent growth was achieved in the USA and 246.3 percent in China. Exports of paper and paper products to China increased 216.52 percent on value basis and 246.3 percent on quantity basis in the 9-month period. The said figures were 106 percent and 102 percent in USA.

Alican Duran, Vice President of Istanbul Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association stated that the paper and paper products sector has largely recovered the losses caused by the pandemic, especially with its performance in the June-Sept period. He said:

‘’The export markets of the sector are predominantly developed countries. In the European cardboard packaging market, where we hold 11 percent, we rose two places, leaving the UK behind, and became the third largest producer. “
