According to the data of Turkish Confederation of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK), the number of Turkish tradesmen reached to 1 million 953 thousand 120 as of August. 2 million 103 thousand 745 workplaces belonging to these tradesmen were recorded.
The highest number of tradesmen compared to population density was determined in Burdur. Burdur has a population of approximately 271 thousand; the number of tradesman reached to 11 thousand 638 and they covered the 4.3 percent of the population. Other provinces with the highest number of tradesmen compared to population density were respectively Mugla with 4.21 percent, Canakkale with 4.01 percent, Artvin with 3.96 percent and Edirne with 3.91 percent.
On the other hand, Sirnak ranked as the province with the least number of tradesmen compared to population density. The number of tradesmen in the city was 5 thousand 146 as of August; tradesmen only covered the 0.97 percent of the population. Other provinces with the least number of tradesmen compared to population density were respectively Batman with 1.01 percent, Diyarbakir with 1.29 percent, Agri with 1.36 percent and Siirt with 1.42 percent.

Examining the Turkish provinces, the highest number of tradesmen was seen in Istanbul with 240 thousand 411. This figure covered the 12 percent of the total tradesmen in Turkey.
Istanbul was followed by Izmir with 121 thousand 527 tradesmen, Ankara with 100 thousand 535 tradesmen, Antalya with 84 thousand 901 tradesmen and Bursa with 77 thousand 290 tradesmen.
Bayburt was the province with the least number of tradesmen. Only 2 thousand tradesmen work in Bayburt. Other provinces with the least number of tradesmen were respectively Tunceli with 2 thousand 302 tradesmen, Ardahan with 2 thousand 436 tradesmen, Gumushane with 3 thousand 418 tradesmen and Igdir with 3 thousand 436 tradesmen.
As of 2020, the number of tradesmen covered the 2.3 percent of the total population of Turkey which is 83 million 154 thousand 997. In other words, approximately 2 out of every 100 people in Turkey are earning their keep from being tradesmen.
