According to the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) Market Data Report, there are 82 million 128 thousand 104 mobile subscribers in total, including machine-to-machine communication (M2M), corresponding to a prevalence rate of approximately 98.2% in Turkey by the end of 2020.
The 3G service, which started to be offered in July 2009, reached 65 million 949 thousand 652 subscribers as of the end of March 2016, but with the implementation of 4.5G on April 1, 2016, there was a rapid transition from 3G subscription to 4.5G subscription.
At the end of 2020, the number of 3G subscribers decreased to 4 million 330 thousand 89, while the number of 4.5G subscribers increased to 75 million 860 thousand 370. The number of M2M subscribers was 6.4 million.
In the said quarter, the number of mobile broadband subscribers receiving 3G and 4.5G services from mobile computers and mobile phones is 65 million 629 thousand 737, the number of mobile broadband subscribers receiving internet service from mobile computers and mobile phones with only 4.5G service was recorded as 42 million 613 thousand 215.
During this period, the total amount of mobile internet usage was calculated as 1 million 911 thousand 720 terabytes, and the total amount of mobile internet usage by 4.5G users was 1 million 824 thousand 46 terabytes.
