The number of buildings for which municipalities gave construction permits in the first 9 months increased by 73.7 percent

Turkey Statistical Institute announced building permits statistics for the January-September period. Accordingly, the number of buildings granted construction permits by municipalities increased by 73.7 percent, their area increased by 58.1 percent, the value increase by 76.1 percent, and the number of flats increased by 97.9 percent in the first 9 months of the year, compared to the same period of 2019.

While the total area of ​​the buildings for which building permits were given was 72.5 million square meters, it was observed that 40.7 million square meters of this area was residential, 17.3 million square meters was non-residential and 14.4 million square meters was for common use.

According to the usage purpose, residential buildings with two or more flats had the highest share with 53 million square meters while industrial buildings and warehouses had 4.7 million square meters of share.

Surface area of ​​permitted structures decreased

In the occupancy permits issued by municipalities, the number of buildings decreased by 23.5 percent, surface area decreased by 22.8 percent, value decreased by 15.3 percent and the number of flats decreased by 22.3 percent in the 9-month period compared to the same period of the previous year.

The total area of ​​these buildings is calculated as 86.2 million square meters, 48.8 million square meters of which is residential, 18.6 million square meters is non-residential and 18.7 million square meters is common areas.

According to the purpose of use, residential buildings with two or more apartments had the highest share with 66.4 million square meters while public entertainment, education, hospital or care facility buildings had a share of 4.9 million square meters.
