The most high selling automobile brands in Turkey

Last year, Fiat, Renault, and Ford brands made the highest sales in the total passenger and light commercial automotive market in Turkey.

According to the data of the Automotive Distributors Association (ODD), the total market for automobiles and light commercial vehicles in Turkey grew by 61.3% in 2020 compared to the previous year and reached 772,788.

Looking at automobile sales alone, sales increased by 57.6% in 2020 compared to the previous year, reaching 610,109. The light commercial vehicle market also grew by 77.2%, reaching 162 thousand 679 units.

Top 5 brands in total sales

According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from the ODD report, the brands producing in Turkey were ranked in the top 3 in passenger and light commercial total automotive sales last year.

Fiat led the sales with 137,325 units, followed by Renault with 101,534 units, and lastly Ford with 92,487 units.

Volkswagen (VW), which does not have a production facility in Turkey, ranked fourth with 64 thousand 776 units and Peugeot ranked fifth with sales of 43 thousand 674 units.

Renault is the leader in automobile sales

Last year in Turkey, Renault was the brand that sold most automobiles, excluding light commercial vehicles, with 98,900 units.

Fiat followed Renault with 92,364 and then VW with 52,740.

Toyota ranked fourth with sales of 38,958 and Peugeot ranked fifth with sales of 36,589.

Ford sold the most in light business

Looking at the light commercial vehicle segment, Ford was at the top of the list with sales of 64,891 last year. Ford was followed by Fiat with 44,961 sales and VW with 12,36 units.

In this period, Peugeot ranked fourth with 7,85 in the list of brands that sold the most light commercial vehicles, and Citroen ranked fifth with 5,226 units.

C segment was preferred the most

On the other hand, when looking at the automobile market by segments, 87.6% of the market was composed of vehicles in the A, B, and C segments with low tax rates.

C segment automobiles had a share of 63% with 384,457 units, while B segment automobiles had a share of 24.1% with 146,821 units.
