Turkiye rose to 5th place in Saudi Arabian export growth

While Turkiye’s exports to Saudi Arabia reached $166 million 504 thousand in May, the country rose to the 5th place in the increase in exports on an annual basis.

Saudi Arabia is an important focal point for Turkish companies and investors. The Development Plan, which is included in Saudi Arabia’s 2030 vision, also opens up space for Turkish companies in this market. In this context, B2B meetings and official visits between the two countries are also reflected in the export figures.

According to the information compiled by AA correspondent from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkiye’s exports to Saudi Arabia increased 56 times in May compared to the same period of the previous year, from $2 million 926 thousand to $166 million 504 thousand.

Saudi Arabia was recorded as the 26th country to which Turkiye exported the most during the said period.

The country also became the 5th country in which Turkiye’s exports increased the most in terms of value in May compared to the same period of the previous year. In the said period, Turkiye’s exports to Saudi Arabia increased by $163.6 million.

Carpet industry came to the fore

Carpet industry made the highest amount of exports to Saudi Arabia in May with $27.2 million.

Exports to the country amounted to $16.4 million for chemicals and products, $15.4 million for cereals, pulses, oil seeds and products, $12.9 million for machinery and accessories, and $11.6 million for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, ready-to-wear and apparel for $11 million, electricity and electronics for $10.8 million, furniture, paper and forestry products for $10.3 million, mining products for $9.1 million, automotive industryfor $8.2 million.

The lowest exports to Saudi Arabia were other industrial products with $19 thousand, ornamental plants and products with $37 thousand, hazelnuts and products with $358 thousand, dried fruits and products with $852 thousand, and fresh fruit and vegetables with $930 thousand.

Demand came for the products of 5 sectors that did not export at all last year.

The sector that increased its exports to Saudi Arabia the most in terms of value was the carpet sector with $27.2 million.

Exports to the country increased by $16.3 million, cereals, pulses, oil seeds and products, $15.2 million, machinery and accessories by $12.3 million, and ferrous and non-ferrous metals by $11.6 million.

This year, there has been demand for the products of ornamental plants and products, hazelnuts and their products, fresh fruit and vegetables, aquatic products and animal products and other industrial products, which did not export to the country last year.

$70.5 million from Istanbul, $28.6 million from Gaziantep, $8.6 million from Bursa, $8.3 million from Ankara, $6.3 million from Hatay the sale took place.
