Developed by Aktif Bank’s digital bank N Kolay, the indiBindi mobile application will be able to be used in taxis after the yellow minibuses.
The increasing need for hygiene during the pandemic process has greatly increased the importance of contactless applications in our lives. Due to social distancing and avoiding contact with other passengers, the demand for public transport has decreased significantly. In this sensitive process, the risk was quite high for both passengers and drivers, especially in urban transportation vehicles where cash paid from hand to hand circulated.
Therefore, indiBindi mobile application, developed by Aktif Bank’s digital bank N Kolay, was launched last February. The application, which allows Istanbul residents to use contactless payment with QR code in minibuses, can now be used in taxis as well.
More than 200 minibuses use indiBindi, the European side is next
More than 200 minibuses use the application, which started in Istanbul Bagdat Street. Now operating in Uskudar, indiBindi will soon start operating on the European side. Aiming to exceed 500 vehicles in this way in the first stage, the company’s target in Istanbul is to reach a thousand vehicles.
Aktif Bank Deputy General Manager Betugul Toker said, “During the pandemic period, we developed indiBindi for a technology-based solution for urban transportation vehicles where cash is paid and cash is used. indiBindi provides the hygiene, speed and convenience needed for both drivers and passengers. IndiBindi, which can be used in many yellow minibus lines in Istanbul today, will also serve in taxis in a short time. In this way, the reservation and QR code payment feature in taxis will be included in the application.
Betugul Toker stated that they provide service on more than 30 lines with indiBindi, Kadikoy-Bostanci and the Uskudar line, which was recently included in the system, and on 200 minibuses for the time being, “In the first stage, we aim to serve on 500 minibuses. With a rapid growth, we plan to expand in different cities after Istanbul. In addition to our efforts on growth, we are taking the necessary actions to market the application abroad as well.”
5 thousand active users and daily volume approaching ₺100 thousand
When we look at the outstanding figures of IndiBindi, apart from the thousand vehicle target, it is observed that indiBindi is used more during the period when schools are opened, and it is expected that the daily transportation amount through indiBindi will exceed ₺100 thousand in a short time. The application, which is actively used by more than 5 thousand users, targets 1 million users with its expansion policy in different cities.
