The historical transformation of 5 thousand houses in Uskudar started

A major transformation project was started in Uskudar. Stating that they started a historic transformation of 5,000 residences, Minister Kurum said, “There are 1.5 million residences that need urgent conversion. 300 thousand of them are in Istanbul.”

Another important step was taken in the Camlica Mosque and Surrounding Urban Transformation Project, which was initiated in 2018 upon the instruction of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. With the participation of the Minister of Environment and Urbanization Murat Kurum, the new 5 thousand residence project “Great Transformation in Uskudar”, which concerns the earthquake transformation of Istanbul, was started.

Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment and Urbanization, said, “We are starting a new urbanization investment, a brand new visionary project, a new historical transformation of 5,000 residences by adding the districts of Kirazlitepe and Ferah, as well as Mehmet Akif and Kupluce, with the instructions of our President. With all the projects we carry out in and around Camlica Mosque, we will gain 7,000 residences and workplaces in total.”

“Our universities, scientists and ministry have revealed that we have 1.5 million residences in our country that we urgently need to transform,” said Kurum, adding that 300 thousand of these residences are located in Istanbul. Stating that these 300 thousand residences should be transformed urgently, Kurum said: “As the Ministry, we have started the transformation process of 126 thousand residences in Istanbul today. We want no citizen to be victimized in earthquake transformation projects.”

Minister Kurum continued his words as follows: “We have invested ₺100 billion in environment and urban planning in our Istanbul in the last 20 years. Currently, we are carrying out our ₺20 billion investment in the field with the love of serving the nation day and night.”

Making a statement regarding the mucilage cleaning and inspections in the Marmara Sea, Murat Kurum said, “We carried out 4 thousand 41 inspections. 8 enterprises were fined for closure and ₺12.5 million fines. Our inspections will continue 24/7. We will not allow the Marmara to be polluted.”

Stating that they have built 40 national gardens with a total size of 6 million square meters in Istanbul, Kurum also explained the project they carried out with Uskudar Municipality as follows: “We will revise the current deplorable state of the Validebag Grove in the center of Istanbul and bring the green, nature and historical values to light only, without damaging the historical texture, registered structures, and without any new construction.”

Hopefully, our ministry is carrying out an important project together with our Uskudar Municipality and as of Monday, our landscaping project in Validebag starts. With an investment of approximately ₺50 million, we will build and revive a work that will really add value to Uskudar, Validebag and Istanbul. I hope this project will bring good luck to Uskudar in advance.”

Uskudar Mehmet Akif Ersoy Neighborhood Urban Transformation Association Board Member Mucait Karakas made the following assessment to SABAH regarding the transformation works: “The same transformation conditions of our President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Kirazlitepe will be applied to Mehmet Akif Ersoy and Ferah district.

We hope that as a result of the efforts of Environment and Urbanization Minister Murat Kurum and Uskudar Mayor Hilmi Turkmen, the same rights given to Kirazlitepe will be tried to be applied to Mehmet Akif Ersoy. We hope that the specified rates will be opened to us for signature as soon as possible. We demand that the urban transformation be completed very quickly. We thank our esteemed elders for their efforts.”

In his speech, TOKI President Omer Bulut said, “We have carried out 260 urban transformation projects in 69 provinces and 222 districts. We have transformed approximately 170 thousand residences in 110 projects in 40 provinces.”

In the coming months, we are holding the tender for a total of 15,208 urban transformation houses, 780 of which are workplaces, only in terms of urban transformation.” Mayor Bulut said that the works are continuing rapidly on the 180 thousand 550 square meters area to the west of Camlica Mosque, which has been declared a risky area.”
