Eti Maden Technology Development Department Head Maraslioglu said, “Our dishwashing detergent is an alternative product in the natural products category.”
Derya Maraslioglu, Head of Eti Maden Technology Development Department, referring to the importance they attach to the cleaning and hygiene sector, said, “The last cleaning product we developed is a dishwashing detergent. It is an alternative in the category of natural products. Ours is a higher segment compared to the products in the normal market. Why? Because we are in the class of natural products. We all know that they are also very expensive. Unfortunately, they cannot reach all consumers. Our product took its place on the shelves 2-3 times more economically than them.”
Maraslioglu gave information to the AA reporter on products developed using boron.
Reminding that boron is used in different sectors, Maraslioglu said that it is used in the cleaning sector as a detergent as well as nuclear, agriculture, ceramics and glass sectors.
Emphasizing that boron has water bleaching, antibacterial and antifungal factors, Maraslioglu said, “These are the properties required for hygiene. Therefore, we started to work with that. Especially, we thought about how we can offer it to all the consumers in our country. About 2 years ago, our products launched in the laundry detergent sector. Our Boron brand product with both powder and liquid detergents with colored and white detergent options. This attracted great attention and demands started to come.”
Maraslioglu drawed attention to the fact that one of the areas where boron stands out due to its cleaning properties is the dishwasher, she added saying they have carried out R&D studies for more than 1.5 years.
Stating that they produced a natural gel product for dishwashers with rinse aid, Maraslioglu said that a product has also been developed for those who prefer hand washing.
Underlining that the expectation of the consumer is cleanliness, Maraslioglu continued as follows:
“We produced products that are both eco-friendly and human health friendly. At this point, we are intensifying our work. We use both boron minerals and our other auxiliary materials, natural herbal products. Our dishwashing detergent is an alternative product in the category of natural products. Ours is a higher segment compared to the products in the normal market. Why? Because we are in the class of natural products. They are also very expensive. Unfortunately, they cannot reach all the consumers. Our product took its place on the shelves 2-3 times more economically than them. We can say that it is a cheap point compared to its equivalent products. The aim of our Ministry, our institution is about boron reaching each and every consumer.”
Maraslioglu, said the following regarding the working process of Borel branded disinfectant and Bortam branded surface disinfectant, “Actually they also appeared after the pandemic. Again, the antifungal properties of boron are well known. For example, it is also used in vitamins and agriculture. The vast amount of boron sold in the world, up to 15-16%, is used in agriculture. When the epidemic broke out, we worked with the National Boron Research Institute and developed the formulas.”
New good news may come in 2021
Pointing out that their aim is for people to reach the right disinfectant, Maraslioglu explained that they started to develop the formula with the outbreak of the epidemic in China.
She stated that when the epidemic was declared in Turkey, the formula was ready. She added saying: “We immediately got our hands on the raw material and then set up production sites very quickly. We started production within 10-15 days. With Borel, we met the intensive disinfectant needs of both private and public personnel working in the field. Later, besides personal cleaning, environment and surface cleaning came to the fore. People hesitated. I got on the elevator, the cargo arrived to see if there was a virus. Then we started the formulas of Bortam, surface disinfectant, after Borel. In the middle of the summer, Bortam formulas were formed and it started to turn into products.”
Expressing that both products have passed the tests and have obtained the necessary license approvals from the Ministry of Health, Maraslioglu explained that the products in question are offered for sale with the priority of cleaning, health and hygiene.
She underlined that she thinks the products in question will also spread beyond Turkey. Maraslioglu completed her words as follows:
“Firstly, we aim to meet the needs of our own people in our country and then to be used in different countries by introducing our product abroad. We aim to develop new products and formulas. As R&D, we also help the sector. Glass, fiberglass, fire resistant products. Although we do not use them ourselves, we also help the sector. There are sectors such as glass, fiberglass, fire-resistant products, plastic, and wood. We provide certain quantities of products to help them experiment and we also provide scientific support. We can give new good news in 2021. When the time comes, both our Ministry and our institution will share the good news.”
