Istanbul Airport reached 16.4 million passengers in three months

Istanbul Airport, which was used by 11 million 371 thousand passengers in the first three months of last year, reached 16 million 403 thousand passengers in the same period this year.

Kadri Samsunlu, the senior manager (CEO) of Istanbul Airport Operator IGA, shared the number of passengers using the airport in the first three months of 2023, compared to last year, on his social media account.

Accordingly, Istanbul Airport, which was used by 11 million 371 thousand passengers in the first three months of last year, reached 16 million 403 thousand passengers in the same period this year.

According to the table, Istanbul Airport, used by 3 million 466 thousand passengers in January 2022, 3 million 549 thousand passengers in February and 4 million 355 thousand passengers in March. This year, it hosted 5 million 637 thousand passengers with an increase of 63% in January, 5 million 24 thousand with an increase of 42% in February, and 5 million 742 thousand passengers with an increase of 32% in March.

In his post, Samsunlu stated that they expect the passenger traffic to increase and said, “Despite the earthquake disaster we experienced in February and the negative effect of the start of Ramadan in March on the number of passengers, Istanbul Airport made a strong start to 2023. Strong passenger demand continues. We expect heavy passenger traffic to Turkiye and Istanbul in the summer.”
