The addition of rams to the ‘elite’ flocks in the biggest agricultural enterprise in Turkey

Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, added rams to Awassi sheep flock cultivated by Ceylanpınar Agriculture Enterprise that is attached to General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises(TIGEM).

In the ceremony held in Kabataş, Assistant Manager in Ceylanpınar Agricultural Enterprise Şevket Bayar, give information about the operations. Deputy Director General of TIGEM Ertuğrul Anbar, Operating Manager Bülent Öztürk and staff joined the ceremony.

Branch Chief of Sheep Breeding, Gökhan Tükenmez, stated that they added rams to 36 thousand sheeps this year. He continued by emphasizing the coming of a fertile year:

‘’We added rams to our flocks today in the way that one ram falls to 20 sheeps’ share. Our rams will stay in the flock for 45 days and make insemination then we will separate our rams. The births will start as from December. Hopefully, we are waiting 40 thousand lambs for the next year.’’

Tükenmez said that they made 20 new sheep pens and are planning to do 10 more next year.
