Exports of $3.7 billion from Sakarya in 8 months

Sakarya’s exports in the 8 months of the year increased by 15.4% compared to the same period of 2022, reaching $3 billion 677 million 341 thousand.

According to the information compiled from the Turkish Exporters Assembly data, Sakarya, which contributed 2.5% to the country’s exports in the January-August period, continues its rise in production and exports.

Sakarya, which maintains its 7th place in exports after Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Izmir, Ankara and Gaziantep, is famous for its automotive, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, machinery and parts, chemicals and products, air conditioning industry, steel, electrical and electronics sectors.

Sakarya, which exported $3 billion 185 million 844 thousand in the January-August period last year, increased its exports by 15.4% to $3 billion 677 million 341 thousand in the same period this year.

While exports were made from the city to 150 countries and 11 free zones, the largest export was in the automotive sector with 88.1%. Sakarya achieved automotive exports of $3 billion 242 million 477 thousand in 8 months.

The iron and non-ferrous metals sector, which ranked second in Sakarya’s foreign sales with $69 million 696 thousand, was followed by chemicals and products with $60 million 127 thousand. This was followed by machinery and parts with $56 million 95 thousand , air conditioning industry with $49 million 334 thousand, and steel industry with $39 million 777 thousand.

The top 10 countries to which the city exported the most during the said period were Poland, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Israel, Bulgaria, Belgium and Sweden, respectively.

While $508 million 559 thousand of exports were made to Poland, among these countries, the country with the highest increase in exports compared to the same period last year was Bulgaria with 63.3%.
