WhatsApp is Introducing a Video Messaging Feature, Similar to Voice Messaging

WhatsApp, an app known for its efficient voice messaging feature, is now taking steps towards expanding its platform’s capabilities by launching the exciting instant video messages feature. This addition lets users record and exchange short personal videos right within their chat windows, thereby changing the conversational experience to a more media-oriented one.

The videos play automatically on mute when opened within the chat

Video messages are designed to facilitate real-time responses to chat interactions, limited to 60 seconds in length. The feature aims to not just relay information but also share the essence of the moments and emotions accompanying it. Whether it’s to convey birthday wishes, react to a humorous exchange, or share good news, video messages aim to encapsulate the full range of human emotions.

Using the video messaging feature is a pretty straightforward process, similar to sending a voice message. Users just need to select the video mode and press hold to record. An additional swipe-up allows for hands-free recording, again, very similar to audio recording. To improve user convenience, the videos play automatically on mute once accessed in a chat. A simple tap on the video activates the sound, ensuring control is in the hands of the recipient. Furthermore, video messages are equipped with end-to-end encryption, ensuring robust security for the interactions.

As of now, the roll-out of video messages has started and it will be accessible to all WhatsApp users in the forthcoming weeks. This move highlights WhatsApp’s commitment to improving user experience by adding innovative features.
